The hotel was quite good, although the
advertised 10 minute walk to the lake was way off. More like 15 or
20mins which was disappointing. The staff were friendly and helpful,
organised a lovely cyclo ride around the Old Quarter which was good.
Probably would try to find a hotel closer in next time.

The staff at the Viet Hotel were
helpful, friendly and we relied upon them a great deal to assist us with
local customs and costs. The food at the Viet Hotel was probably the
best we had in Vietnam (and we had great food elsewhere!). The hotel
itself does not appear to be new (despite the info on the website) and
our room was very small and cramped. However bathroom was clean and
easy to use and the hotel is situated in the Old Quarter so was an
interesting place to stay.
We had a great tour guide (My) who has our absolute endorsement and
provided us with so much historical info about Hanoi and Vietnam - we
wished we could take her on the rest of our Vietnam trip. If we went
back to Hanoi we would try to find My again.
