You will love Saigon and the Vietnamese people, they always have a smile on their face and Saigon is a very safe city.
The Asian hotel is cheap and extremely central, but we tried three rooms and they were all very noisy. Either generator noise or noise from a busy street outside + air-con is a little noisy.
Food in the hotel was good, but staff do not speak hardly any English. Good large department store is next door to the hotel and the Tourist information centre is across the road. If you are NOT light sleepers, then book this hotel. The rooms are like a two star hotel in the UK. Although Saigon is a busy city and even the more expensive hotels I imagine may be noisy. You need at least three nights in Saigon. And an absolute must is a trip to the tunnels. Taxis are cheap and probably the safest way to get around the city.

fantastic location... extremely close to main shopping area and all the touristy places are in walking distance. we basically walked the whole of saigon in one day.tourist office over the road for out of town touring, money changing bank on opposite corner.
Staff were a tad stand offish and not the most helpful..stayed here twice. first room was large, 2nd room (i suspect) was the janitors cupboard...very small and dingy with mould everywhere. Not a bad place overall, but maybe check room first before agreeing to it!!
