Elios Hotel was a nice comfortable
hotel for the money. The standard rooms do not have a window and is not
carpeted - rather it was tiled so the room didn't feel as friendly and
warm. We tried to switch but the hotel was fully booked. Also, although
clean, the bath towels were quite worn, thin and not white. The next
couple of nights were spent 2 doors down at the Liberty 3, which was a
bit more in price but rooms were larger, with windows, nice amenities
and buffet breakfast.

Elios is a new hotel in district 1 of HCMC. The lobby is spotless
and beautiful. The A/C was appreciated as were the many leather couches,
chairs and tables. DSL internet and 3 free computers are in the back of
the lobby (with free bottled water delivered by the staff). Check-in was
simple and professional. The staff spoke good English.
The rooms were adequate in size and very comfortable. The bathroom was
nicer than mine at home (and my wife notes that ther is a hair dryer in
the bathroom)! All tile and marble with Western toilet and shower. The
bed was comfortable with nice linens. The TV was high def with too many
channels to count. There is also a spacious in room safe.
The breakfast is extensive, but mainly focused on hot foods that I
would consider more dinner foods (asparagus and crab soup, chicken,
beef, fish, caesar salad, but the ever present french bread, marmalade,
strawberry jam, butter and fruit was also available.
It is on a fairly busy street, but most in HCMC are crazy. It is about a
5 minute walk to the Ben Thanh market and about 20 minutes easy walk to
Dong Khoi street. There are many options to eat nearby (Sawasadee almost
directly over from the hotel on Le Lai St. serves great Thai and Sasa at
242 De Tham St. which had the only Vegetarian menu).
I would stay here again without question.

We spent 3 nights at the Elios in December 2007. The room was
clean and roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 children with a double bed, a
single and an extra bed. The shower and bathroom were clean but the TV
reception was bad so the TV was a 'no option' but it didn't really
matter as the hotel is in the middle of the lively area with lots of
restaurants and cafes around. We had a great view of the park from the
room and the restaurant served a great breakfast. The staff were very
friendly and helpful with getting taxis etc. The Elios hotel seemed a
little more 'upmarket' for the area but we didn't stay anywhere else.
75USD per night for 4 of us.

Stayed at the Blue River Hotel for 5 nights with my husband.
Organised our stay via email with the incredibly helpful Thuy. She was
extremely prompt in answering any queries we had and organised a pick up
from the airport for us ($9USD). Room was only $15 USD/night including
breakfast. Location is extremely central, 10 min walking distance to Ben
Thanh Market, yet it was very quiet at night. The room contained private
bathroom, air-con and was spotlessly clean. All the girls here are
extremely helpful and friendly. The lady who cooked us breakfast even
started work an hour early to cook us breakfast before our early flight
home! In addition, we decided to do a Mekong River trip for a few
nights, and Thuy stored our luggage for us for free during this time and
also reserved a room for our return. All in all, we had a great time!
Thanks so much to Thuy and all the staff at Blue River!! Tommy and Yu Eu

We stayed at the Elios for 3 nights for the first part of our trip to
Vietnam. We weren't sure what to expect - something basic but decent
enough. Certainly these expectations were matched and staying at the
Elios was a lovely experience.
We decided to splurge and pay more for a better room (deluxe) - this was
a wise decision because it was not much more but we got better floor and
bathroom space making it a very nice room just to hang out in when we
were tired. It also seemed that they put these rooms at the end of the
hall which was better because it avoided the noise of people coming and
going nearer to the lifts. The floors are all tiled so it can be a bit
echoic. There was street noise but not too bad. The room was very clean
and air-conditioning worked well. Had a great view of the street & park
below to people watch.
Breakfast was basic but good enough. They could organize tours very
easily from the front desk at what was a reasonable rate. Because many
of the tour operators are just around the corner they picked us up both
times from the hotel which made life easier. The location we found
fantastic with a lot of decently priced options within easy walking
distance.
The staff were lovely and always willing to help where they could - we
certainly would stay there again.
