MEKONG DELTA TOUR ON BASSAC CRUISE
2 days/ 1 night | | |
The Bassac are three boats sharing the same standards and mostly differing in size. They are made of wood according to tradition while respecting the best standards, all cabins have a private bathroom, and are air-conned, sound-proofed, heat insulated, and fitted with fire detection.
Bassac I actually once was a rice barge, which we bought and overhauled into the cozy cabin cruiser it is today, and although Bassac II and III are entirely new hull designs, more adapted to their present purpose, they were built with the same craftsmanship and according to the same tradition.
They are meant for discovery cruises and favor the contact with outside: they offer several different living areas each, including a common room that can be completely opened, a rear upper deck suitable for dinner and a front sundeck.
There is power and hot water at all times on board, and they are quiet enough to allow the passengers to sleep while the ship is under way.
Cuisine on board
On a cruise, be it marine or riverine, eating well is essential, and the Bassac are becoming a reference for cuisine and bakery: all meals are cooked afresh including all the bakery in the morning, including baguette, croissants, chocolate bread and crèpes.
Lunch is classic Vietnamese cuisine, a comforting known taste in a nice set-up, and an occasion to figure out the passengers' preferences. Dinner is made of Mekong delta and house specialties, a taste of the specificities of the delta. For breakfast, the passengers need to be on safe ground and able to eat the energy for the coming day, so we offer a continental breakfast with some Vietnamese morning dishes as well for the demanding purists.
