On the Emeraude, buoyed by one of the world's most beautiful bays, little things matter. Colonial style brass fans. Hardwood floors. Beadboard walls. And the most comfortable beds on the bay. In every cabin, the rich decor evokes another age, when craftsmanship mattered more than the bottom line. But make no mistake: The Emeraude makes concessions to the modern era, with air conditioning, electricity and other amenities typical of an upscale hotel room. No need to bring your own hair dryer. We've got that. Umbrellas, slippers, bathrobes. We've imagined all the contingencies so you'll be fully prepared to enjoy your cruise.

Highlights:
- Visit hundreds of islands and islets on Halong Bay
- Enjoy kayaking trip on the water and swimming on quiet beaches.
- Learn more about Halong Bay’s history and local people.
- Enjoy delicious seafood lunch onboard.
- Sunbath on the sundeck with the panoramic view

Good: "The trip around Halong Bay on the Emeraude was great. The cabin was lovely, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The boat is based on a paddle steamer from the turn of the last century, great attention has been paid to detail in the cabins. The shower even has an old ship feel to it, and it was perfect. There are complimentary bottles of water left in the cabin. You will also be given water on the shuttle bus that takes you to Halong Bay (I travelled from Hanoi). The staff were very helpful, professional, an extremely friendly. The food was buffet style and was excellent, and they give a very enjoyable cooking demonstration while on board.

You can go Kayaking, or visit a pearl farm (the latter is included in the fee). The pearl farm was interesting, and worth seeing. There is also a trip to one of the many grottos in the bay which was just beautiful.

The boat was definitely one of the safest in the Halong Bay area, a point you will definitely note when you see some of the others in the bay. It is ideal for families wanting to take the trip. It is considerably more expensive than some of the options for sailing around the bay (watch the price on minerals and the likes more European in price than Vietnamese!), but it is definitely a case of you pay for what you get.

Good: "We stayed in the Emeraude, a classic replica of a colonial steamship, for the overnight cruise on Halong Bay. We enjoy the magnificent scenery as the boat sails around the emerald waters. The food was excellent, staff was friendly. Our cabin was in second plant. We had in our cabin small bathroom, but for one night was sufficient. On boat there was a lot of entertainment as excursions, cooking class, thai-chi class, during night we can watch movie about Indochina."
