Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome aboard and sail through the World Heritage Site-Halong Bay, visit Tien Ong Cave, pass through ancient Cua Van Fishing Village

The boat sets sail to cruise into the Bay. Find yourself getting acquainted with the facilities onboard. A delectable buffet lunch with a feast of choices is served in the restaurant. Savor your first hours in Halong Bay on the sun deck by simply letting your eyes wander around the scenery.  We arrive at the area of Cua Van floating fishing village. From here we start to explore a cave named Tien Ong and the floating fishing village. Tien Ong is the most recently explored cave. Showing evidence of human civilization dating back to 10,000 – 8,000 BC. The cave is just 5 meters above sea level 50 meters deep and covers 1,000 square meters. Our guide takes you on a loop though the cave and explains about the his-torical findings and the cave’s particulars. The voyage continues to the fishing village. With a small bamboo boat rowed by the local people we move around in the calm sea of this secluded area and gain an insight into the village life. You can also paddle by yourself in a kayak. The second option is a perfect way to freely move around in the calm area and gain an insight into the village life. After returning to the boat we sail to the overnight mooring area Luon Bo. During this time Halong Bay reveals its most magnificent beauty - called the “blue hour”. Unusind on the sun deck with a drink of your choice and let the moment sink in. During the sailing time our chef demonstrates the preparation of particular Vietnamese dishes. Feel free to join and practice by yourself. Dinner is served in the restaurant either à la carte or buffet style. Afterwards the night is yours to kick back and abundantly enjoy these unique moments amidst a surreal landscape. A presentation in our dining area with interesting facts and insights on Halong Bay is also offered after dinner.  We wish you a good night in Halong Bay where once upon a time dragons played with sparkling jewels.

Day 2: Cruise to another island to enjoy the view from the hill top above over Halong Bay

For early risers (around 6:30) tea, coffee and pastries are available in the dinning room. A Tai Chi class is offered on the sundeck to ease mind and muscles. The boat sails to Titop Island. We set out by tender to this little landmass in the bay. Prepare yourself for a refreshing morning swim on a sandy beach beneath high rock formations. If you prefer to be more active, climb up to the hill top of Titop Island from where you have stunning views over Halong Bay. It is 400 stone steps up which takes about 20 minutes to the top, minimal fitness and proper footwear is required. There is also a viewing platform about half-way up with great panoramic views. Back on board (around 8:45) you may like to shower and freshen up. Now it is time to enjoy the last sailing time back to the harbor. A full breakfast is served in the dining room. Relax on the sun deck or relax in the dinning room while savoring the last cruise moments of this iconic site before arriving back on shore. Our crew bids farefells and helps with your belongings. Heritage Line and all the crew members thank you very much for having you on board.

Good: "After booking a one night two day cruise on the ginger junk we ended up on the jasmine junk. No big drama there but would have been nice to be told earlier than the day before.
When we arrived at Halong Bay we looked for a junk in traditional timber color only to find out that someone decided that all the junks should be painted white.
Again no big drama, just doesn't look like a traditional junk.
We were welcomed on board and given a brief run down of the itinerary and then given our room keys.

The rooms were well appointed and comfortable.
The food was plentiful and very delicious
The people were really friendly and eager to help you, sometimes to eager but at is OK
So given that we picked the cruise for the boat and the itinerary we were dissappoiinted

Good: "I just returned from a cruise aboard The Jasmine it was an amazing experience ! We had two days of misty weather; the sun made an appearance on the final morning as we were leaving the boat. At first I was very disappointed to arrive in light rain but the mist gave the bay a very quiet magical feel….. the sea was calm and peaceful there was virtually no wind…as we moved slowly between the islands they looked like dragons hiding the in the mist.
The Jasmine is traditional wooden Chinese junk, with a 30s style Indochina décor. I stayed in a main deck cabin without a balcony, it provided all I needed for two nights; although it would have been nice to have had a cabin with private deck. The highlight of the cruise was the second day with a visit to Bai Tu Long Bay which is more far more beautiful and far less touristy than Halong Bay. The bike ride on Cat Bay Island and kayaking in the bay were experiences of a life time!

The ship staff were all very friendly and attentive all spoke English. Food was another highlight …. fresh local seafood …wow ....shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, sea bass…I was in heaven ! We were told upon arrival that other food options were available but my friends and I ate seafood. We got to meet the Head Chef a very nice Vietnamese fellow who had previously run a 3 Star Michelin rated restaurant in Hanoi; which is why the both taste and presentation resulted in the best food I have every eaten on any cruise ship!

Passengers consisted of singles and couples, young and old. There was also a nice mix of nationalities everyone was very nice and we all had a great time!

I would highly recommend the two day cruise to anyone who wants to take a trip to Halong Bay!
"

Bad: " My only disappointment was the local government's new "White Paint Policy" all cruise operators must paint their beautiful traditional Chineese junks WHITE which really takes away the beauty of the bay and the ships!"
